Well hell-o there faithful canibite!
This be the section of gratuitous ego! Hey! When you're the ONLY "Ska-Hop" band in the existence, it's hard to be humble.
So here's what's known as a Bio/pictorial of Nomadik Canibals. If you feel the need to bounce around on the site, go ahead - knock yourself out.
I am not the one to stop your party! So enjoy your life!
During the early days of Nomadik Canibalism - many of us were in freshman bands that just played anywhere for the shear fuck of it. To those we rocked with before, thanks for the memories of sharin' food, clothing and a hot spot to squat! The years have been fun. Some of our friends have moved to bigger things while the many pursue their dreams.
In August of 1998, in this spot we call "Satan's Afterbirth" (Hollywood) - Seven and Mushroom Man (after being in bands that imploded as sacrificial lambs) began placing adds to get not only a new band but something they knew no one else could or would attempt to do.
By combining their love for Two-Tone Ska, Reggae and Hip-Hop, they formed an eclectic group of musicians to produce what's now known to their audiences as "Ska-Hop". As a 10 piece band, Nomadik Canibals ran through gig after gig proving themselves as a force to be reckoned with. Blowing out amps at the Coconut Teaser, breaking stages from Long Beach to Rusty's Surf Ranch and a few hearts here and there, Nomadik Canibals burned every show, laying at performance levels that left many bands jaded, dismantled and sometimes soaked in admiration from their peers.
Playing out with such stage villains as Neville Staples of the Specials, Horny Toad, the Allentons, Missing Link, the Israelites, Angelo Moore of Fishbone and countless other traditional ska bands from SteadyBeat Records, Nomadik Canibals became the fourth wave renegade Ska band with a new twist. And like Charlie Parker (you know, he tried to bring Be-Bop into LA, before it was a dominating music trend in Jazz, only to be accepted in Paris - that's America for ya'y!), Nomadik Canibals has become a leader in their own sound, market, genre and sushi.
With hurricane precision, they have acquired national and international press with their show as the hottest ticked in town, averaging 100 shows a year with appearances on national television, radio and internet. Headlining major sports venues, charity events and getting music to the Fox Network has served Nomadik Canibals a good dose of fame for five and a half minutes.
After 9 month of running crews off the stage, Nomadik Canibals recorded a demo that hails by Skratch magazine as "Simply one of the best Ska bands on the West Coast".
Within that year, their first album on self release by Omega 7 Records/Prodad (the Bands label and office) "GOALEEZ NEVA S.C.O.R.E.!" sold over 1000 cd's in the first month via the world wide internet, mom&pop stores and performances.
And with downloadable video footage of the band on RESINMUSIC.COM and the pictures on this site Nomadik Canibals prove that they can not only party with the best of them, but make music that moves a crowd into the music as well.
